Why riders switch
Six reasons riders are ditching the lycra
Everything you get from padded cycling shorts, nothing you don't.
-
01
No lycra, no costume
Cut like everyday boxer briefs. Wear your own shorts, jeans or chinos on top.
-
02
Pressure spread, not pinched
The gel pad widens the area you sit on, so two small points stop carrying all your weight.
-
03
Invisible off the bike
A low-profile pad that sits flat. Walk into the office and nobody knows.
-
04
Nothing to change into
Ride in, lock up, carry on. No kit bag, no changing room, no second outfit.
-
05
Cooler than bib shorts
Mesh panels and a breathable pad base keep air moving. Drier skin rubs less.
-
06
Any bike, any ride
Commute, e-bike, trails under baggies or a spin class. Same comfort underneath.
Try them for 30 days. Not cushier? Full refund, and you keep them.
Choose your kitInside the pad
Five layers. Each with one job.
Most cheap liners are one flat slab of foam. They feel fine for a fortnight, then go flat. Five thin layers do the job of one thick pad, without the nappy feeling.
Everyday riders
Made for how Britain rides
From Westminster Bridge to the Cotswolds: commutes, e-bikes and Sunday loops, all in everyday clothes.
The Mile-20 Problem
Mile five is fine. Mile twenty is where it starts.
You shift back. You stand on the pedals. You sit down again and hope. Then you cut the ride short, or you spend the last few miles counting them down. That's the Mile-20 Problem. And it has nothing to do with your fitness.
Why it happens
It's not you. It's pressure.
On a saddle, most of your weight sits on two small points. After an hour or so, that pressure squeezes blood flow and nerves, and that's the numb, dead, 'I need to stand up' feeling. A padded seat doesn't fix it. A thicker saddle doesn't fix it. What helps is spreading that pressure across a wider area, and keeping it spread for the whole ride.
Three steps. No kit change.
- 1
Pull them on
Under shorts, jeans, work trousers or baggies.
- 2
Ride further
Commute, e-bike, Sunday loop, trail or turbo.
- 3
Step off and carry on
Nobody knows they're there.

Care
Machine wash at 30°C, inside out. Air dry. No tumble dryer, no fabric softener (keeps the pad breathable).
Will they feel like a nappy off the bike?
No. The pad is thin, contoured and flexible, and the shorts are cut like normal boxer briefs. Once you step off the bike it sits flat against you, so walking around the office feels like wearing ordinary underwear.
Can anyone tell I am wearing them?
Under jeans, chinos, work trousers or baggy shorts the outline stays flat. There is no lycra sheen, no bib straps and no bulky seat, so nobody can tell.
My saddle is already padded. Why would I need these?
Saddle padding stays on the saddle while you move around on it. The Cushy Rider pad moves with you, so the cushioning stays exactly where you make contact, whichever position you ride in.
Will they help with that numb feeling on longer rides?
Numbness usually comes from pressure concentrated on two small points. The five-layer gel pad is designed to spread that pressure across a wider area, which is what most riders find makes the difference. Everyone is different, and if numbness persists it is worth a bike fit or a chat with your GP.
What can I wear them under?
Anything you already ride in: jeans, chinos, work trousers, casual shorts, baggy trail shorts or joggers.
Do I wear other underwear with them?
No. They are your underwear. Wearing another layer underneath adds seams and traps heat, which is exactly what they are designed to avoid.
Will the pad get hot and sweaty?
The shorts have mesh side panels and a breathable pad base that keep air moving. Drier skin is more comfortable and rubs less, even on warm days.
Do they help with chafing?
The pad sits flat, stays in place and moves with you rather than bunching, and the mesh keeps skin drier. Those are the main causes of rubbing on a saddle.
Does the padding go flat after a while?
The pad is built from five thin layers, including high-density foam that holds its shape instead of packing down. Wash it as recommended and it keeps its cushioning ride after ride.
What size should I order?
Check the size guide above and go by your waist measurement. If you are between sizes, go one up: the pad works best comfortable, not tight. Wrong size? We will swap it free.
Do they work on a turbo trainer or spin bike?
Yes. Indoor sessions are often harder on your seat because you move around less, so a padded layer helps there too.
How do I wash them?
Machine wash at 30°C, inside out. Air dry. Skip the tumble dryer and fabric softener to keep the pad breathable.
How long does delivery take?
UK delivery is free and tracked. Orders are dispatched in 1–3 working days and usually arrive within 7–12 working days, in discreet, unbranded packaging.
What if they are not for me?
Ride them for 30 days. If they are not cushier, email us and we will refund you in full, and you keep them. No forms and no return postage.
How much riding do these make sense for?
From a 20-minute commute to a long Sunday loop. If you ride more than a couple of times a week, or you have ever cut a ride short because of your seat, they are made for you.

Ride further. Sit easy.
